Executive Director

Directs and coordinates the effective implementation of the mission, goals, and strategies of the Ho'ōla iā Mauiakama Long Term Recovery Group (HMLTRG) as established by the governing body. Responsible for program oversight, fundraising, marketing and community outreach.

PAY RATE: $106,550.00

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Regularly exercises discretion, independent judgment and decision making while performing duties and responsibilities.

  • Assists the Ho'ōla iā Mauiakama  board of directors in developing and implementing the operational policies, programs, and training events which meet identified needs to respond the disaster.  
  • Assumes responsibility as the chief development and fundraising officer of the organization.
  • Serves at the discretion of the Board.
  • Attends all board and committee meetings and serves as staff resource to HMLTRG’s board of directors.  
  • Works with consultant to develop a public relations program.
  • Organizes and presides at the LTRG partner meetings.
  • Oversee the preparation and release of reports, studies, and publications and reports on-going statistical and narrative reports to capture program activity, operations and finances to the HMLTRG Board of Directors and funders.  
  • Works with all board committees to promote two-way communication and facilitates board and committee meetings.
  • Coordinates strategic planning activities to include board and staff input; implement and monitor the plan; oversee reporting and updates as required.  
  • Acts as an agent of the board as designated and serve as the primary spokesperson for the HMLTRG.  
  • Builds relationships with other coalitions.
  • Works with community groups, agencies and faith groups in developing inclusivity.
  • Ensures of fiscal integrity; provide overall control and direction for funding.
  • Ensures the organization has an adequate system of control and financial accounting in accordance with established standards of accounting practices and procedures.
  • Oversees the control and direction of personnel functions to include hiring, terminations and staff training to increase skills and competencies.
  • Negotiates and executes contracts, leases and agreements for the organization as an agent of the board.
  • Promotes and maintains a high level of customer service ensuring that client’s needs are met.
  • Promotes and maintains safety culture for staff and clients.
  • Regular attendance.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the organization.  
  • Directly supervises: Case Management Coordinator, additional supporting staff.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the agency's established policies, procedures and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field and two (2) years of experience to include supervisory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.  
  • Ability to effectively present information to public groups, and the board of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and analyze financial and statistical reports.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical information including, but not limited to:  grant proposals, contracts, financial reports and policy and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Access to an insured vehicle and a valid driver's license.
